I have added photography and graphic design to my skill set. Photography and graphic design appeal to me for the melding of the creative with the technical. There is a strong drive in me to "master" the technical aspects of software and equipment. I have an inner curiosity that is always seeking to learn. On the other hand, the artist in me wants to create order. Where there is order, everything has a place! When life appears out of order, art can provide the framework to bring understanding or at least a way of coping.
My work is vibrant, sentimental and generally focuses on family and relationship. My compositions tend to be bold in color, high in contrast, and minimalistic, or at least simplified, which builds intensity and lends itself to the vibrancy. I use my art as a way to hold onto the moments in life worth savoring. While raising four children, I worked as both a social worker and a school guidance counselor. My past experiences in these roles are finding their way into my art, perhaps not overtly, but it is there in the focus on family and relationship.
Pursuing new artistic skills has opened doors for me that have provided a nice balance to life. I look forward to more adventures, more art boards, and new ways to support people.
